Whiter Than Snow
Whiter than Snow
We had the first real snow of the season overnight. When I woke up I grumbled …snow and cold seem to appeal less to me with each passing year. I see windows that need scraped, driveways that need shoveled, cold car seats and traffic tie ups. What’s so great about that?
But my daughter Abby came down the stairs before I left. She looked out the window and gasped with surprise and happiness, “Oh my goodness. Look at the snow!” When you are seven, you see snow angels to be made, snow men to be built and a chance to wear your new hat and gloves. And ok, I admit, the blanket of snow looks a lot better than the brown grass and bare trees.
“Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.” Psalm 51:7
To get that blanket of white that looks so beautiful we have to be willing to deal with the downside – the cold, the slipping, the sliding, the numb fingers and toes. To get the purification that God promised, to be whiter than snow, we have to be willing to do the hard part – confess our sins to the Lord. The grace is guaranteed if we will accept it, but we do have to ask.
Take the opportunity to be forgiven. What a wonderful gift!
