Light
“There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light. The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.” John 1:7-9
Light
At the outset of his gospel, John takes the concept of logos – a Greek principle for an eternal and unchanging truth available to every individual who seeks it – and pens a poetic description of this principle personified in Christ. The logos or Word brought life; in that life, light shines.
Where in our lives we see the “logos light” and share that light with others?
Some people see that light in nature. The beauty and diversity of our created world prompts some folks not only to become better stewards of the earth but also to see in humanity the beauty and diversity that God has created.
For some people, the logos light beams and beckons in small children. As an employee of the YMCA, I am fortunate to spend time around young children who are learning to hold conversations around a lunch table as well as to master their ABCs, share toys and assume responsibility for helping others. In small tykes, the light of the logos dances with promise and possibilities.
