How Will You Grow This Year?
How Will You Grow This Year?
The narrative that Luke’s gospel gives us about the “silent years” of the life of Jesus depicts his growth in “wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and with people” (Luke 2:52). It is no coincidence that our YMCA’s are aligned with this powerful growth principle. Our organization exists to help persons grow in “spirit, mind, and body.”
Examine our red triangle. One side helps us to remember the Trinity and the other represents “spirit, mind, and body.”
Before we lead others, we must walk the talk.
The question before us is, “What are WE doing to grow our spiritual, mental, and physical dimensions of our lives?” Have you, like me, set New Year’s resolutions and/or personal goals and failed to meet them? The challenge is for us to identify a specific thing we can do in 2010 in each of these three areas and make a commitment to reach each goal. Here is a thought to ponder: The ability to make and keep commitments to oneself is the essence of being a person of integrity. Let us make our commitments . . . let us keep them. Show integrity to your value system – by growing in spirit, mind, and body!
